ASOS Winter Glam December 2020

The ASOS December box hasn’t disappointed with 5 fab goodies to get us glammed up for winter! If you’ve not got one of these boxes before, it’s not a subscription. They just appear each month on the ASOS website and you can see the full contents before you purchase. The boxes are normally around £12 but special editions and collaborations are normally £15-18. So I’ll dive in and show you the gorgeous products we got this time.

Winter glam box £12

First is this beautiful Revolution Pro Ultimate Eye look palette called So Jaded. It’s got four shades with green being the main colour, a matte cream and a gold shade. The palette itself is bejewelled and would look amazing sitting out on a dressing table. The shades are really easy to blend and you could create such a nice smoky eye – I’m excited to play around with this and it’s a fab inclusion in the box.

Next is a mini Bare Minerals Lipstick in the shade Courage which is a really nice warm toned red – who doesn’t love a bit of red at Christmas??

Next two lash products to keep those peepers fluttering! First is the Smashbox Superfan mascara. I’ve had this before in a box and it’s a nice mascara, this is a travel size and it lasted quite a while when I had it before.

Next is a set of false eyelashes from Prima Lash to give some extra glam and volume. These look like a nice set of lashes, there’s no glue but that doesn’t bother me as I usually have some kicking around!

Prima Lash Dainty Lashes £7

Last is a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge , I use these a lot to blend out foundation and concealer so this is another win for me!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge £4.99

So although I can’t really calculate the cost of the mascara and lipstick, with the full size items we can get a cost for they total £21.99 making it really great value.

What do you all think is this a box you’d enjoy? It makes a really great Christmas gift especially if you are in a secret Santa or something similar.

Code Beautiful

I’m really excited to write up this review about some great new beauty products I’ve just discovered and am loving. Code Beautiful has kindly gifted me four items which are perfect for getting you out the door in the morning and feeling amazing! Everything is cruelty free and vegan, and the whole purpose of their products is simply to enhance your natural beauty.

The Vibrancy Kit

First is the Code LLE (Lid Lift Enhance) , this is a 3 in 1 product which acts as a concealer, primer and eyeshadow. The main aim with this is to give you the ultimate antidote to tired eyes, and if you’re anything like me chasing after a 5 year old and working a full time job along with all of life’s day to day makes me tired!

Staying in the eye area next is the Code VLM (Volumising Lengthening Mascara) I have mentioned a lot over the past year about trying to find a mascara that I really love. One of my favourite things about this one is the formula doesn’t flake or irritate- a major consideration when you wear contact lenses like me! The other thing I love, aside from the fact it makes your lashes look amazing, is that it’s waterproof so no worries about panda eyes after a wet school run! It doesn’t clump and it’s buildable so if you just want a quick coat to add some definition and get out the door you can. But equally for more drama you can layer it up and have a really pretty look for a night out.

Finally we have two lip products both aimed at giving you a gorgeous natural pout. Code SSL (soft Smooth Lipliner) is a total gamechanger for me with lipliner! It is so incredibly soft and creamy, absolutely no dragging here! It is a really lovely nude shade and is infused with plumping ingredients as is the Code LIP Lipgloss. You can either literally just line your lips and use a lipstick or gloss to coordinate or because it’s so creamy you can fill in your whole lip and use like a lipstick. The packaging is great for being able to throw in your bag and it has a built in sharpener, because if you’re anything like me you constantly loose sharpeners.

CODE SSL £18

CODE LIP is an amazing lipgloss which hydrates and plumps lips with that amazing ingredient hyaluronic acid. I’ve used lip plumper lately before and lots of them use ingredients to make your lips swell and they are really irritating. This is so not like that! They recommend you use daily for at least two weeks to see a difference to your lips and it’s highly recommended from me, especially as the weather is getting colder. It is a sheer tinted formula which is a nude Rose and just highlights your natural lip colour. You can also layer over the top of Code SSL to further enhance your pout.

CODE LIP £20

The main thing I love about these products is its 4 steps that can get you out the door and just feeling more put together with a gorgeous natural look. Makeup can be quick and doesn’t always have to involve a million different products.

A finished look with all of the products

Glossybox February 2020

So this months box is all about lurrrve 💓 Specifically Love Crosses Borders which I really liked the idea of, with products from all around the world. Also this box was the same for subscribers in different countries so I believe Germany and the Netherlands subscribers received the same items.

The sneak peek in January’s box was of Figs and Rouges Wonder Love Charm Glow Elixir. A super shimmery product designed to give you a glow like no other! This can be applied under makeup or can be worn on natural skin for a brightening effect.

Worth £35, its packed with A, C and E vitamins, hyaluronic acid, minerals, rose water and rose quartz, hydrates your skin and gives you a glow. This is lovely mixed with your usual foundation for a subtle glow or dotted on as a highlighter after you’ve applied foundation.

There’s a lip focus in this Valentines box with a mask all the way from Korea. Korean skincare has been such a huge trend over the last year or so and I love all the different kinds of masks you get to try with Glossybox so this is a winner for me. Plus you have to keep it on for 15-20 mins which means I won’t be talking so it makes a win for Phil too! This did make my lips feel super hydrated, given it’s still cold and wintery it’s a welcome treat! This is a deluxe mini and is worth £4.25, if you buy the full size product you receive 6 masks in the box.

Next up is a duo of lip liners from American brand Saint Luxe in pink and red shades. They are billed as a luxury brand which creates long lasting, cruelty free products. The red is a strong colour and I have a few lipsticks and glosses that will work with it. The pink is a lovely soft colour which pairs perfectly with the next product in the box. These are £23 for the duo available from saint luxe beauty.com

Another American product included from Floss Beauty is this dusky pink lip gloss. It’s a semi sheer formula and mine pairs perfectly with the pink liner in my box. The packaging is really cute too and it has a pretty long lasting effect. This is £12.30 to purchase from floss it up.com

Final product in this months box is the Glossybox lip liner brush. I’ve been slowly replacing some of my older brushes for nice new ones so this is perfect for me! This is £5.10 to purchase from the Glossybox website.

There was a nice surprise for regular subscribers in the form of a perfume sample from Glossier. I really liked this, it’s very fresh and light perfect for an everyday perfume. It’s out of stock at the time of writing this and I’m keeping an eye on when it’s restocked!

In total the box is worth an amazing £79.65 making it fantastic value for money.

I pay £11.75 per month for my Glossybox including shipping but there are lots of plans available on their website www.glossybox.co.uk from 1-12 month plans

Would love to know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think!

Glossybox October Devil Edition

So this month Glossybox really hit it out of the park for me with October’s Angel or Devil edit. There were two special design boxes available with an angelic or devilish theme…. I’m thinking you can see which one I got!

The colours in the October box were just fab!

The box had 5 amazing beauty treats all of them full size and a special extra treat of a hot chocolate from Whittard of Chelsea.

First up is the Que Bella Beauty Plumping gold peel off mask, which has a gorgeous glittery sheen to it in the packet (and on your face!). I love a good face mask and this also had hyaluronic acid to moisturise and brighten your skin, a must in the autumn weather! A full size product which is RRP of £2.49

I love a good red lip during the autumn and winter and in this box we got a Lord and Berry lip crayon in Devil Red. It’s a perfect bold red and being a crayon format you can line your lips and fill them in with one product! Finishes matte and doesn’t feel drying at all. This is a full size product with an RRP of £15.

An extra treat in this months box was this delicious Whittard of Chelsea Hot Chocolate which is Sticky Toffee Pudding flavour. This was so creamy and had a strong caramel/toffee flavour. A lovely little extra for those cold nights! I absolutely love the sugar skull packaging, really went brilliantly with the Halloween theme of the box. This was a sample size worth £2, Full size worth £9 which you can purchase here

Another favourite of mine in this months box was this STYLondon palette which has 9 shades of eyeshadow in red and orange tones. There’s a lovely mix of shimmers and matte shades which make a fab statement eye- not one for the faint hearted! I love this palette the pigment is good and it’s a great size for popping in your makeup kit. The palette is worth £15 and is another full size item.

An MCO eyeliner crayon in black was the next item which is a black liner designed to give precise lines. I really liked this as I can sometimes struggle with liquid liner when I apply. This applies really well and smudges nicely as well if you want to wear it along the lash line for a smokey eye look. The RRP for this is £15.

The final product in the box this month was the Bubbletea Devils Dust foaming bath powder. This is a really good size as you don’t need loads in the bath to create the bubbles and it has a nice floral scent to it. This is full size and RRP is £4.99

Altogether the products are worth £54.48. They are all products I have enjoyed using, particular favourites being the lip crayon, eye palette and eye liner. I really enjoyed the theme this month too, Halloween is one of my favourite seasons and I am glad I got the Devil box as the colours are much more suited to me.

Another shot of the Devil Red Lord and Berry Lipcrayon

I subscribe to Glossybox for £8.50 plus postage and packing which in total is £11.75 so definitely well worth the subscription fee.

Toy Story 4

Toy Story goodies

So we are massive Toy Story fans in our house. Disney is a huge part of our lives and we were all mega excited to see the new Toy Story 4 movie.

No spoilers but it’s definitely different from any of the other movies and for some a bit emotional. One of my favourite things is the change in Bo Peep which has been well publicised, but I’ll leave it there if you’re still planning a visit! This post is all about some of the cool things we’ve picked up now that most of the Toy Story merchandise has dropped.

Primark Woody cushion

With a discerning 4 year old son and Toy Story mega fan, it was a great time to pick up some cute accessories for his bedroom. This cushion was only £7 from Primark and he loved it so much he insisted on using it as a pillow for his bed!

We also got some bedding and curtains for Daniels room, he’s now 4 and we wanted to make his room a little more grow up for him. Needless to say he loves it! The bedding and curtains are from Dunelm Mill and the curtains have blackout lining, perfect for little ones.

Toy Story Toddler bedding £14 , sheet £6

Toy Story Curtains £45 from Dunelm Mill

Boots UK offer

We picked up some suncream for the summer at Boots and got this free water bottle, featuring none other than Toy Story 4 star Forky. Possibly the most relatable item in the movie is Forky, the toy Bonnie makes from items in the trash. As a mum to a 4 year old we get some weird and wonderful creations brought home from nursery and I love this element of the film showing how creative children’s minds can be.

When the toys take a selfie!

Pizza Planet T-shirt from Primark

I picked up this Pizza Planet T-shirt from Primark for £6 for our family trip to the cinema . We went with a Pizza Planet theme as Daniel loves the aliens, his shirt is from ASDA. Phils is the traditional Pizza Planet logo and is from Amazon.

Toy Story 4 Fan Club!

It was one of Daniels first trips to the cinema and he sat pretty well. You can tell by our faces how excited we were!

Have you seen Toy Story 4 yet?

I’m so looking forward to the Lion King coming up now and now the trailer for the live action Mulan has dropped too it’s an exciting time for Disney fans!

My favourite live action adaptation so far has been Jungle Book so I’m hoping that the Lion King can live up to that!

Summer Soirée

June Glossybox Summer Soirée

I loved the June Glossybox so much with its Summer Soirée theme! A fab mix of products, which I’ll tell you about and are perfect for natural subtle makeup look. A gold coloured eyeshadow pencil

Meech N Mia Eyeshadow Stick

First is the Meech N Mia eyeshadow chubby stick in gold. This is a really creamy eye pencil that has a striking look on its own. However I think it will be great layered with some palettes I already have especially some of the shimmers in the Urban Decay Naked Cherry.

Avant Pro Perfecting Primer and Hask Coconut Oil Mask

I always love a bit of variety in the box and this months was three makeup items, one skincare and one haircare. My haircare item was the Hask hair mask for deep conditioning. It smelled amazing and left my dry coloured hair feeling silky smooth.

Avant Pro Perfecting Collagen Touché Eclat Primer

My skincare item was Avant, I loved their nightcream which featured in another box. The primer is really lightweight and you don’t need much when applying – a little goes a long way! It’s a great base for your foundation, mine definitely lasted much longer and it also helped with fine lines under my eyes.

Sleek Face Form Contouring Palette

Next up is the Sleek Face Form contouring palette in the shade Fair. This is a three shade palette of matte contour powder, highlighter and blush to add definition to your face. I love the colours, they work really well for my skin tone. Sometimes I find contour powders are far too dark for my face but this adds a subtle definition without being overpowering. The blush and highlighter are buildable and add a nice colour. The palette has a mirror and is a cute little size to pop in your bag for touch ups if needed. Great for experimenting with contour in a subtle way.

The final item in this months box was a Model Co Lip Creme in the shade Peachy Nude. The name really is a perfect description it’s a lovely peach colour and is a matte creme lipstick. Once applied you let it dry for 60 seconds and then it has great staying power. I had some lip liners which matched and I’ve used those with it too, it’s a really good lipstick and one I’m likely to purchase again.

All in all a fab box for June, which in total is worth over £125, across the cost of all the products! I really love the variety I get in Glossybox each month and I seem to find products that I might not have picked up but that are a good fit for me.

Glossybox costs just £8.50 per month plus shipping on their 12 month plan with further details available at http://www.glossybox.co.uk

Finding Wonderland

I’ve used Nip and Fab skincare before with their Dragons Blood mask being one of my favourites. I hadn’t really tried their makeup range, apart from their brow pencil and decided to get some colour pieces to try as the colour selection is amazing.

I was so excited to try out this eye palette called Wonderland with a mix of gorgeous pink, purple and brown shades.

Nip + Fab Wonderland Palette

Mattes, shimmer and some glitter what’s not to like! The powders blend really well and are buildable, the pink shimmers are quite sheer but if you use a cut crease technique they really show nicely. The matte shadows build nicely so you can do a wash of colour if you want a subtle look or build up for a stronger effect. They last pretty well and there’s lots of ways to combine them for a day or night look.

The palette coordinates perfectly with this copy of Vogue making the picture very disco chic!

I bought the most amazing lip topper from the same range in the shade Pink Rocket 🚀 It’s such a gorgeous sheer shimmer on it’s own and has a really nice texture, non drying. However when its paired with a base colour it really pops!

I love wearing it over my NYX Sliptease lip colour for a shimmer that’s like no other.

NYX Sliptease

Nip and Fab makeup is available from Superdrug, the Wonderland palette is £12.95, lip topper in Pink Rocket is £7.95 . It’s usually on 3 for 2 as well so you can get a bargain to boot!

It’s also available direct from their own website.

What’s in your bag?

It’s a bit of a running joke with my husband that my handbags weigh a ton because of how much stuff I carry ‘just in case’.

I’m a mum so I pretty much always have things like tissues and wet wipes although it’s amazing how many times these end up not being used on my son!

What’s in your bag ?

I had the Soap and Glory advent calendar at Christmas and really enjoyed getting all the mini versions of things like Hand Food hand cream and Original Pink body spray. I was never sure whether the beauty advent calendars were worth it but I really enjoyed mine, and I am still using the products which were perfect for throwing in your handbag.

I’ve always got a lipbalm, nail file and my 4Head stick. I used to carry loads of painkillers incase I got a migraine while out and about, but I’ve found this little stick amazing for keeping the worst of the symptoms at bay and it means I don’t have to take as many paracetamol.

My Minnie Mouse mirror and a couple of lippie options go everywhere too- a gloss and a matte just in case! Really enjoying the lip crayon from my December Glossybox from Doucce Cosmetics in shade Winterberry a gorgeous red which really suits my skintone.

Finally I always have my diary, a pen and a notebook. Yes I still love a paper diary, even though I put all my appointments in our shared calendar on my iPhone as well! Paper chase is one of my favourite shops!

What’s your handbag essentials and is it as weighty as mine?!

Casual Chic

I love when all the little details of a look come together. The weather has been driving me crazy lately so my go to outfit has been jeans and sweatshirts. The great thing is sweats don’t have to look sloppy with so many cute styles that keep you comfy, cosy and on trend!

This one is from the H&M Plus Range and was £24.99 with some beautiful embroidery of little hearts and stars which runs all over the back. I love the details like this which make a simple sweatshirt feel a bit more special! I really like that H&M have reviewed their sizing as the fit is so much better now. I probably could have sized down in this as it is an oversized fit and it’s mega baggy. I really liked the look when it was on so decided to just keep it.

I make no secret that I love my handbags and this Cromia one is no exception. I have a bit of a sentimental attachment as I actually bought it while on my honeymoon in Rome. It’s a really versatile piece with detachable straps and works well for Day or Night. It’s a great size as well, I hate when I can’t fit my purse in a bag! But the thing I love the most is the little studded detail and the fittings round the clasp. They really make the bag pop and give a luxe feel.

Jumper – H&M Jeans- Tu Clothing Bag- Cromia Bags Shoes- Vivienne Westwood

Teamed with a pair of jeans from Tu Clothing and my favourite last season Vivienne Westwood trainers, this look is a perfect blend of high/low fashion. Picking out the colour of the embroidery with the stripe in the jeans and breaking it up with the white trainers makes it an easy to throw on casual look which works for relaxed weekend wear. And ready for any weather changes!

Purple Passion

Do you ever notice how you go round to trends you first discovered years ago?

I vividly remember buying my first lipstick from Miss Selfridge and feeling so cool and grownup. It was bright purple, I thought I was so out there as most of my friends weren’t into experimenting with makeup like that.

NYX Suede Matte Lipstick and Liner in Shade STFU

This NYX lipstick and liner gave me flashbacks to that time and I just couldn’t resist revisiting it as a look! I love that lip liners and lipsticks are designed to go together now and there’s no second guessing whether one will be a good match.

It made for the perfect 90’s grunge style look !

Purple has been my favourite colour forever really and features in lots of things through my life, including my hair!

However it’s a challenge sometimes to keep the gorgeous colour vibrant that my stylist creates at the salon. I have tried lots of different hair colours over the years and currently I’m loving these I💜Revolution Rainbow Shots and Tones to keep my colour looking good! The shots are a shampoo and conditioner which you apply after washing your hair as usual. They are great for keeping your colour topped up without adding lots of build up. The tones are more of a semipermanent colour with much more pigment and are a really good conditioning treatment.

Perfect if you heat style with straighteners, curlers and hairdryers- let’s face it who doesn’t?!

I 💜 Revolution Rainbow Shot and Rainbow Tones

I also recommend Colour Psycho in Wild Purple for keeping things bright and fresh! My hair is bleached underneath to make the colour nice and bright too.

Color Psycho in Wild purple

My last little foray into purple themed products is the one and only Frizz Ease by John Frieda. I just want to say now it’s a happy coincidence that the packaging is purple! As well as being coloured, my hair is really thick and coarse and prone to dreaded frizz whenever it’s humid. So I use a small army of products to keep my hair looking it’s best. I’ve always been a fan of Frizz Ease serum but I recently discovered the Leave in Conditioner.

I’ve recently started swimming and that’s a recipe for disaster with coloured hair but I’ve found using the leave-in-conditioner great for keeping my hair smooth and in check.

Let me know if you’ve got any favourite products, purple or otherwise!
